Please stay informed, stay involved and let us know what we can do to help support you. KCS community, all of you are a part of what we do to help each of our students become successful. Additionally, Friday, October 6th is an Early Release Day and students will not be in school on Monday, October 9th. Congratulations!įinally, please remember that September 15th-October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. Brown High School were recognized and McKnight Pre-K teacher Vanneza Aguirre received the Hilbish Ford Teacher-of-the-Month. There is still time to register.įurther, at our September Board of Education meeting, we were excited to recognize numerous KCS students and staff. Our schools have shared information about this event and more information is also on our KCS social media. As part of the Run Kannapolis series, KEF will be hosting the Steps for STEM and Wonder Run 5K on October 14th. Next, the Kannapolis Education Foundation is partnering with our KCS schools for an exciting fundraising opportunity this fall. KCS did well in growth for the ‘22-’23 school year, with six of our eight schools meeting or exceeding growth (Jackson Park, GW Carver and North Kannapolis all exceeded growth), but we did not increase in proficiency (the percentage of students performing at grade level). Soon, we will be sharing relevant data and our priorities around school and student performance via our websites. Third, school performance grades and the state school accountability report were released a couple of weeks ago. While many of the PBoR requirements already existed in federal or state statutes and KCS policies, the PBoR both reinforces and expands parents’ rights in regards to public education. KCS will be adding resources and updating policies on our website over the next several weeks. Secondly, as many of you have heard, school districts across the state are busy reviewing, updating, and organizing procedures and policies to support the Parents’ Bill of Rights (PBoR), which became law in August. Please know that our KCS staff members treasure family involvement and are grateful for the support. As always, please reach out to us with any questions or concerns.įirst, thank you for an outstanding start to the school year! We have been very pleased with the first month of the school year and how positive our parents have been in showing appreciation for our staff. Greetings everyone, we hope you are all doing well! We are sharing updates and great happenings for KCS as we head into fall.
